1997, probably in the parking lot of the Sahara hotel.  I 
never met the owner.]


Saw the U21REM2 plate that was right below my entry on 
the website, and I know whose that is/was and a story behind it.

There was a GREAT Wireling named Patrick Perez who was a 
friend of mine and someone very active in LA Celebration, 
an LA based fan group during the 80s and the PopMart tour.  
He was murdered in a carjacking in January 98, and that was 
his plate, commemorating his two favourite bands.

I'm not sure who the guy in the photo is or if he knew Patrick, 
but he must have gotten the plate after the number was rereleased 
to the public.  The original plate was displayed at Patrick's 
funeral and on TV at several press conferences about Patrick's death.

So many people miss Patrick a great deal, and he was in our 
thoughts at the Elevation shows.  Thank you for putting up 
this site...seeing that Patrick's old plate lives on for another 
U2 fan brings back lots of warm memories.
